YU YU HAKUSHO: Takumi Kitamura Is Yusuke Urameshi In The First Promotional Image For The Netflix Live-Action Series
Netflix is getting its spirit energy up this weekend with a first official look at actor Takumi Kitamura (Tokyo Revengers) in the lead role of the upcoming live-action series adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho, following its 2020 announcement. Sho Tsukikawa is directing the series from a screenplay by Tatsuro Mishima, with Akira Morii producing for ROBOT, and Kaata Sakamoto exec producing for Netflix.
Netflix Japan Festival 2021 is off to the races this week with a slew of ambitious new projects well on the way from here through the next few years. In doing so with announcements of projects such as a second season of Alice In Borderland, a second installment of animated series Tiger & Bunny, Beat Takeshi biopic Asakusa Kid and more, they’ve confirmed their commitment to a live-action Yu Yu Hakusho series with a premiere date set for December 2023.
Netflix Japan and production house, ROBOT, are reportedly teamimg up to bring Yu Yu Hakusho to life in a live-action format, according to several reports running online. Kazutaka Sakamoto (Aggretsuko, Devilman Crybaby) and Teru Morii are serving as exec producer and producer, respectively, on the series.
