578 MAGNUM: Alexandre Nguyen Turns The Underworld Upside Down To Find His Daughter In The Official U.S. Trailer!

Film Movement is taking the mantle with Vietnamese action adventure, 578 Magnum. A theatrical and digital release is in order for the film in North America with a release date set for February 23 and the official trailer is here as well.

After leaving the Special Forces, container truck driver and single father Hùng (Alexandre Nguyen) dedicates his life to raising his six-year-old daughter. But when she gets kidnapped and assaulted, Hùng relies on his martial arts training and combat skills to hunt down the twisted millionaire responsible. His mission of vengeance takes him on a journey deep into the Vietnamese underworld, where he faces off against legions of bloodthirsty gangsters working for one of the world’s most dangerous crime syndicates.

Award-winning director Dung Luong Dinh makes a 180-degree turn from his two previous films Father and Son and Drowsy City, to deliver a jaw-droppingly breath-taking spectacle of massive fistfights, vigorous chases, sword duels, sharp wounds, and twisty traps. Non-chronological flashbacks offer shocking, gripping and plausible motivations for frantic anger, savage fury, extreme torture, and an unchained desire to kill.

Featuring action sequences by Oh Sea Young (Avengers: Age of Ultron), 578 MAGNUM, nominated for the Grand Prix Award at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, was selected as Vietnam’s 2023 official Oscar Entry for Best International Feature.

578 Magnum also stars Anh Tuan Hac, Jessica Minh Anh and H’Hen Niê.

I credit Screen Anarchy’s Andrew Mack for first putting me onto this one via his coverage a few years ago. Indeed, it’s been that long, and weird how much time passes by for these titles to get stateside traction. I’m still upset the Kara Hui thriller Mrs K is nowhere to be seen ’round these parts… Hm. Hey, Film Movement! What say you?
