9TH OLD SCHOOL KUNG FU FEST: JOSEPH KUO EDITION Joins NYC’s Subway Cinema & Museum Of The Moving To Celebrate A Thrilling Line-Up Of Kung Fu Greats

Now’s as good a time as any for UK residents to make note of the latest arrival of Eureka’s 8×4 Limited Edition Joseph Kuo collection, Cinematic Vengeance. Alas, Subway Cinema, in partnership with the Museum Of The Moving Image and NYC’s Taipei Cultural Center, are stepping up to share the wealth, and then some, with an 8-day semi-virtual series hosting the 9th Old School Kung Fu Fest: Joseph Kuo Edition from December 6.

The eighth edition was held in the summer of 2019, so it’s actually been more than a year since Subway Cinema could pull its next festivities off all due to the crippling pandemic. Fortunately the organization has found a way to adapt to the times as the tri-state area improves in its current standing as far as health and safety goes, allowing in-person and virtual screenings for its selections.

All titles, nine in total, will be presented with fresh 2K restorations with new subtitles. Five of the films which will be screened live are 18 Bronzemen (1976), Return Of 18 Bronzemen (1976), 7 Grandmasters (1977), Mystery Of Chess Boxing (1979) and 36 Deadly Styles (1979); The four which will stream online with original audio and subtitles are Shaolin Kung Fu (1974), Shaolin Kids (1975), The Old Master (1979) and World Of The Drunken Master (1979).

Lo and behold, if you’re an old head or a young head with an affinity for classic kung fu, this is all you right here. Head to the official Subway Cinema website for all details and info on how to attend and/or stream these amazing classics at your own will!
