Comic Book Movie shared inteview this week featured on YouTube channel Flicks And The City featuring statements from Australian actress
Sharni Vinson who is currently out promoting her new horror film,
You’re Next. Sharni’s most notable credits include the 2011 surf drama,
Blue Crush 2 and Jon M. Chu’s 3D dance extravaganza,
Step Up 3D with actor Rick Malambri.
In the interview, Vinson discusses her role in the upcoming film, and expresses her preference roles that are just as physically challenging. With this, she also indicates her intetest in starring in the upcoming Lara Croft: Tomb Raider reboot, and namely announcing her hopes for a superheroine film casting her as Elektra in the likely 2018 release of Marvel’s The Avengers 3. The latter role was previously played by actress Jennifer Garner in Daredevil (2003) and Elektra (2005).
Watch:
MGM previously announced their partnership with GKFilms development of the Tomb Raider reboot back in March, with GK Films founder Graham King producing. GK Films initially acquired the rights from Square Enix back in 2011. As far as Elektra goes, nothing has been reported on it other than previous talk of a Daredevil that is still up in the air, but with Joe Carnahan no longer attached. Whatever happens though, Vinson definitely has the image to carry both characters, as well as the physicality. And I certainly hope she gets either role or even both.
You’re Next releases this Friday, August 23, 2013, starring Vinson along with Joe Swanberg, A.J. Bowen, Nicholas Tucci and Barbara Crampton. The Adam Wingard-directed film is based on a script by Simon Barrett about a family reunion that turns into a bloodbath when a gang of masked axe-murderers invades the home, unsuspecting that one of their potential victims will fight back.
Previous screenings have already earned the film rave reviews. Check out the trailer below or click

Native New Yorker. Been writing for a long time now, and I enjoy what I do. Be nice to me!
