After 10,000 Years, Elizabeth Banks Will Be Free As Rita Repulsa In SABAN'S POWER RANGERS
Earth To Echo helmer Dean Israelite’s new film, Saban’s Power Rangers is currently pre-production, and after outlining its principle cast members last year, the production finally announced who would reprise the role of intergalactic power-hungry witch, Rita Repulsa.

Rita Repulsa has been portrayed in a few iterations dating back to actress Soga Machiko’s performance in the original 1992 TV Asashi Tokusatsu show, Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger, the show that spawned its crossover counterpart, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The American version of the series, as broadcast for Fox Kids, continued the role between TV and film with actresses Carla Peréz, Julia Cortez, voice actress Barbara Goodson and actress Susan Brady. Banks joins relative newcomers Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, R.J. Cyler, Ludi Lin and Becky G. as respective Ranger recruits Jason, Kimberley, Billy, Zack and Trini. Seperately, Banks is also last reported to be attached to helm an upcoming revival of Charlie’s Angels for Sony as of last September.
According to THR Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama have written the new script following a previous draft by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. Saban’s Power Rangers is being produced by Haim Saban, Brian Casentini, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey witg Allison Shearmur executive producing for the film’s March 24, 2017 release.
