Director Keith Sicat has been on the scene since 2005, though amidst a raft of shorts and documentaries, he would ultimately delve into sci-fi in 2013 with Woman Of The Ruins. Sicat is back nowadays with his fourth feature, Alimuom, as he looks once more to the sci-fi crowd to showcase a milestone epic for a region of the world in which ambitious sci-fi is a rarity.
Sicat wrote the film which takes place in a distant future dystopia where Earth is all but nearly uninhabitable, and all farming and agriculture has been banned and outsourced to other planets. Things change when a family of Filipino scientists suddenly discover that they’re able to grow certain crops in the harsh environment, not to just grow food, but to also grow life.
Alimuom is set to premiere at the TOFARM Film Festival across Metro Manila from September 12 to September 18. Starring are Ina Feleo, Epy Quizon, Kiko Matos, Mon Confiado, and Dido de la Paz.
