AN AUTUMN´S TALE Review: A look back when Chow Yun Fat fell in love with Cherie Chung on the streets of New York

In her second effort as director, Mabel Cheung (Beijing Rocks), took the audience in a trip to the streets of New York, using as tool, a wonderful cinematography and a touching love story of two characters that are not meant to be with each other… Or maybe they do…

In this Spring tale set in Autumn, Chow Yun Fat and Cherie Chung portrays an impossible couple. Two people with very different backgrounds and realities, that at one point of their lives become a necessity for each other.
She, a spoiled bratt that moves to New York to study with her boyfriend, finding out that he might no be as loyal as she idealized back home, finding emotional shelter in her cousin (Chow Yun Fat) who just helped her to establish in New York
Him, a bum who can’t live a decent life. Someone who has a big problem with gambling and only knows one way to live, surviving. Although that he also keeps big dreams on his soul.
An odd combination that could end up badly in a world that doesn’t believe that two different worlds can come up together and become one.
A 80´s different Hong Kong cinematic experience, in which glorious violence leaves way to glorious romance, bringing together, two wonderful actors in an excellent film, made by a great director, in which was probably her finest work, taking advantage of a wonderful scenario to tell a simple but moving love story, of those that could move into tears even to the toughest guy out there.

Don’t hesitate and give it a chance…
