BLEACH: THOUSAND YEAR BLOOD WAR Arc Begins in October

Toonami Faithful and Adult Swim era millennials will remember Tite Kubo’s smash hit shonen manga, Bleach. It was stylish, with larger than life characters and stories that maintain a strong following years after it’s end in 2016. Shockingly, however, the anime abruptly ended in 2012, years before it would come close to catching up to the manga. With nothing except the live action film in between, Bleach fans will finally see Strawberry and friends return to their screens. Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War is finally set to hit the airwaves in just a couple of weeks, and a new trailer is here to sate fans craving a look.

Bleach is the story of Ichigo Kurosaki, a high school age boy with the curious ability to speak with spirits. A chance encounter with a spirit about to be attacked by a creature called a Hollow leads to being thrust in to an ages old war between Hollows and powerful warrior spirits called Soul Reapers. Taking the powers of one of these Reapers, temporarily, Ichigo becomes the first line of defense for his town, but will soon stretch to the borders of life and death. The original anime, which aired on Adult Swim and Toonami in the US, quickly became a hit with not only the stylish designs of Kubo, but the killer soundtrack that boasted all time anison classics like Asterisk by Orange Range.

Fans who have waited patiently for Ichigo and the Reapers to return to the screen need only wait a couple more weeks. Crunchyroll reports that the show premieres October 10 in Japan, and will be on streaming same day, pending announcement of platform. A new trailer has been provided by Viz to get the hype started; check it out below!
