His newest, visceral new sci-fi thriller, Captive State, now has an official trailer for its upcoming release from Focus Features, offering an ample view into the seething millieu of an American city colonized by aliens, and established as a dictatorship. The PR campaign is also putting in the extra effort with this little jewel.
Captive State, directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and starring John Goodman and Ashton Sanders, is a sci-fi thriller set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after it has been occupied by an extraterrestrial force. Captive State uses a grounded sci-fi setting to shine light on the modern surveillance state and the threats to civil liberties and the role of dissent within an authoritarian society.
Mask-wearing John Goodman stars along with actress Vera Farmiga, and actors Ashton Sanders and Jonathan Majors. The film opens on March 29.
