Netizens are invited this Friday to partake in this month’s livestream celebration of actor and Asian action legend Sammo Hung for Shaolin Jazz’s latest livestream installment of Can I Kick It?.
Presented in association with the National Museum Of Asian Art for the Made In Hong Kong Film Festival, Shaolin Jazz will premiere Wilson Yip’s 2010 franchise sequel hit, Well Go USA’s Ip Man 2: Legend Of The Grandmaster, bolstered by a live soundtrack performance by DJ 2-Tone Jones. The film bookends its three-title slate following this month’s screenings of Huang Feng’s The Final Plot, and Corey Yuen’s Yes, Madam.
Since kicking off in 2013, Can I Kick It? is best known for rolling out the festivities with immense gala for in-person attendance as it has for the last six years – something that’s obviously become a factor due to the pandemic and the new rise of cases as of late. As such, the event will continue its business virtually with the livestream launching July 23 at 5:00pm PT, 8:00pm ET, via Shaolin Jazz on their Twitch page.

The creators of SHAOLIN JAZZ proudly present a unique film experience catered to the lovers of Kung-Fu flicks, the music they inspired and everything else in between — CAN I KICK IT? At each event cult classic martial arts films are screened and scored (scene-by-scene) with a blend of Hip Hop, Soul, Funk and more mixed live by DJ 2-Tone Jones. The result is a live, remixed soundtrack to the movies using music and DJ techniques to accentuate elements of specific scenes and fighting sequences.

Ip Man 2: Legend Of The Grandmaster, which reunites Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung for a blistering reunion as screen rivals-turned-allies in a story inspired by the life and times of the legendary Wing Chun Grandmaster, remains par for the course as a franchise fan favorite since its 2010 release among its 4-part series. Also starring are Lynn Hung, Huang Xiaoming, Kent Cheng and Simon Yam with appearances by Lo Meng, and late screen legends Fung Hak-On and Darren Shahlavi.
