CITY HUNTER XYZ Review: Carrying Ryo Saeba´s Legacy with Honor

l

Every Time that a fan group attempts such a difficult project as this short film, of bringing their beloved manga or anime into live action, their love and passion for the original work overshadows their technical limitations, delivering really decent works that carries the legacies that they try to pay tribute with honor.

City Hunter XYZ is a cinematic love letter to Tsukasa Hojo´s manga, freely adapting one of the best sagas of the story, “Angel Dust“, in which the legend of Ryo Saeba as “City Hunter” really begun, when he was forced to avenge his best friend´s death, Makimura, on hands of a dangerous criminal organization that plans to rule Tokyo´s underworld.

Filip Wong directs this short film with the challenge of bringing into the screen all the essence of the original work, despite of its limited budget and the strong aroma of amateur product that distills, the final result manages to carry Tsukasa Hojo´s legacy with dignity and honor.
