CONTRACTS: Indiecan Lands Alex Chung’s Award-Winning Action Feature Debut

Indiecan Entertainment has acquired U.S. and Canadian rights to release independent action thriller, Contracts, as noted from the official announcement forwarded by Screen Anarchy‘s Andrew Mack on Saturday.

The film, which stars Alex Chung who wore multiple hats on the production next to writer, producer, director and action director, is also being repped by APL Film for international sales as of this year’s events at the American Film Market.

Contracts is the work of several years from Chung who got his start near the turn of the century with burgeoning Canadian stunt group, Eclipse Stunts. Having sharpened his skillset in multiple aspects of filmmaking and stunt work, it is with Contracts that he proudly signaled his feature directing/starring debut which eventually found it way to a world premiere at the 14th Toronto After Dark Film Festival where it won ‘Best Action Film’ and ‘Best Fight Scene’.

In Contracts, a team of assassins led by an extremist become victims of a superior killer. It’s killer vs killer, where none may survive.

Critical reviews were generally positive following the premiere as the film began shopping to prospective buyers. Justin McConnell of Unstable Ground reportedly negotiated the deals on behalf of Chung with Indiecan CEO Avi Federgreen, and APL’s Warren Nimchuk and Brian Sweet.

“I’m really excited to work with these two companies to get this out to the world, as the film was a real labour of love for me,” stated director Alex Chung of the sale. “The action in Contracts hits really hard, and I look forward to helping bring that to action fans across North America,” said Federgreen.

“Given the success Alex has already experienced, we are anticipating even more accolades for the film, and for him, coupled with strong foreign interest as we begin introducing the rest of the world to Alex Chung’s filmmaking.” added Sweet.

Chung, signaling from his Foolhouse Films banner, hasn’t stopped the hustle yet either with his current short drama, Heart Strings, screening at festivals, so expect more from him in the years ahead. With Contracts, he’s poised to be warmly welcomed by action fans as a release date nears, andI meant every word in my own review of the film explaining why.
