Actor and martial arts star Vincent Zhao got to show out this weekend at the third Hainan International Film Festival, and in no better time than then as the first official teaser trailer emerged for Zhao’s own directorial debut, Counterstrike.
The film also stars Zhou in which he plays Lu Ziming, a security expert hired to oversee a bidding contest an oil and gas plant project. Things go awry amidst competitors and Lu finds himself betrayed by his team and forced to fight for his life and expose the truth.
That’s about as much I could gather from China News which also revealed a look at some cool key art with Zhou front and center. For us in the west, Counterstrike looks like an exceptional high mark since he first landed on our shores with Lam Wai-Lun’s The Blacksheep Affair – shamelessly re-titled by SPHE in the U.S. as Another Meltdown thus tying-in to their release of Jet Li pic, Meltdown (a.k.a. High Risk).
Crazy, I know.
Fast forward more than twenty years later and with a career that’s seen its fair share of shortcomings and drama, it’s safe to say it’s nice to see Zhou still around and doing what he does, and for that, look forward to Counterstrike in 2021.
Song Hanhuan, Jiang Yiyi, Lu Peng and Diego Dati also star.
Hat tip to City On Fire for the upload.
