Director Hong Won-chan is currently in production with tentative title, Deliver Us From Evil. I love this title already, and it stars Hwang Jung-min (Veteran, The Battleship Island) and Lee Jung-jae (The Thieves, Assassination) who have been filming the new action drama since last month.

The film marks a reunion for Hwang and Lee who last starred in gangster thriller, New World and occult suspense thriller, Svaha: The Sixth Finger. Deliver Us From Evil now reunites the two going forward, telling the tale of a man whose life turns upside down after being assigned to a contract killing.

Best New Prize-winning actress Choi Hee-seo (Anarchist From The Colony) also stars along with actor Park Jung-min whose recent South Korean threquel starrer, Tazza: One Eyed Jack, just saw its North American rollout from Well Go USA.

Next to his freshman directing debut with 2015 thriller, Office, Hong bares a small list of notable screenwriting credits that partly include Na Hong-jin’s The Yellow Sea, and Jung Byung-gil’s seething 2012 cat-and-mouse thriller, Confession Of Murder.

I’ve seen Office as well as The Yellow Sea and Confession Of Murder, and have even equally entertained by these. Hong’s inaugural directing debut was especially a chilling and brutal psychological murder thriller led by actress, Snowpiercer and A Resistance star Ko Ah-sung who happens to be one of the finest actresses I’ve seen on screen.

Hong is clearly a man of his craft as well and I have no doubt that he’ll be enticing fans in the months ahead for something pretty fantastic in the world of Korean action cinema. His crew is even comprised of folks whose credits are an ensemble of fine titles such as Inside Man (2015), The Age Of Shadows (2016), The King (2017) and Bong Joon-ho’s Palme d’Or-winning Parasite (2019) to name a few.

I look forward to this. (KOBIZ)
