ENTER THE FAT DRAGON: Donnie Yen Teases His Contemporary Spin On An Action Comedy Classic

Donnie Yen fans hard on for another headlining gangbuster actioner after the family-tethered Big Brother will soon have their day with Enter The Fat Dragon, a nod to the 1978 Sammo Hung classic that now takes on a life of its own.

Yen reunites with Wong Jing (Chasing The Dragon) who also shares directing duties with fellow Yen regular, Kenji Tanigaki who serves in the action department as he’s done on a number of stellar titles of late, including last year’s Big Brother, and also the Ruroini Kenshin trilogy and Jiang Wen’s Hidden Man to name a few.

Fallon Chu (Donnie Yen) is a Hong Kong Police Special Task Force agent. He is an agile fighter with a high crime detection rate and a police role-model in the eye of the public. Unfortunately, his fiancée dumped him before their marriage. Heartbroken, he indulges himself in food to relieve his pain. In three month’ time, his endless intemperance transforms him into a 300-pound being.

Mega-Vision is doling this one out in Hong Kong possibly in April while GSC hands Malaysia a May release. I reckon we might hear from a certain Plato, Texas-based distro banner for a U.S. pick-up as well but don’t take my word for it just yet.
