ENTER THE GIRL DRAGON: RGV’s Latest Teases Love, Bruce Lee, And Big Kicks Full Of Glam

Director Ram Gopal Varma’s near thirty year directing career resurfaces with another for his ardent followers with Indo/Chinese production, Enter The Girl Dragon. He announced the film’s official teaser a few days ago that would broadcast on the anniversarial birthday of martial arts screen legend Bruce Lee, and so now it’s online for you to check out above.

Notwithstanding that it boasts itself as India’s first martial arts film (which I find…uhh…interesting!), we get a new talent emerging now in the form of actress Pooja Bhalekar to carry the story of a love triangle – as RGV notes – between our heroine’s love for the beau she rescues from a gang of thugs, and of course, her love for Bruce Lee. And what better way to show you love Bruce Lee than by kicking everyone within kicking distance? Because that’s what we get here. Lots of it. In LOTS of slow-motion and high-speed lensing.

It’s clear that Varma aims to enhance the beauty and visual grace here of Bhalekar’s physicality, and there’s even a pinch of some Bruce Lee choreography akin to the double kick from the original film off which Varma’s film is spiritually inspired by, it seems.

This take is a far different beast than what some martial arts fans may be into these days, but it’s all entirely in the hands of Varma and his new star to light the way going into the new year for the genre. Judging by his note posted on Facebook on Tuesday, it seems he’s got more than enough to deliver on what he promises.

As for the teaser… well… it teases! Peep it above and let’s hope we can get a full trailer going with a proper female-led martial arts vehicle in 2020.
