Fresh out of last year’s festival reception, writer/director Li Yang’s Escape From The 21st Century is now set to bow in select U.S. theaters on June 9. Cineverse is now out with an official trailer and poster as of Wednesday.
The story follows three friends who discover they have the power to travel back and forth 20 years with a sneeze. However, the future is not as good as they hoped, and they need to take on the responsibility of saving the world.
Eacape From The 21st Century stars Ruoyun Zhang, Chuxi Zhong, Yang Song, and Chenhao Li, along with Xiaoliang Wu, Yanmanzi Zhu, and Zhengrong Wen.
This is another one I missed at the festivals last year so I’m happy that this one is finally on deck. The programming notes for its Fantastic Fest run are an exciting read as well with Austin King noting the film’s nods to “Street Fighter” which definitely lend the film some action and excitement for anyone keen, and the trailer below seems ample in that effort.
