Day 4 commences this week as we continue our daily grouping of five titles for the next several weeks comprising 100 movies to keep an eye out for in 2019. 15 down. Here are five more:
The Swordsman: Volcano High star Jang Hyuk is all grown up and missing an eye while trying to find his missing daughter in Choi Jae-Hoon’s new period action epic from Opus Pictures and United Pictures. Hyuk’s is one of three key cast roles centering the story on three swordsman from different backgrounds who converge on one another for their own reasons. Also starring are Jeong Man-sik and The Night Comes For Us star Joe Taslim. Date pending.
Kesari: Anurag Singh is setting forth a Spring date to tell his own iteration of the central hero of the Battle of Saragarhi. Akshay Kumar stars front and center from the Dharma Productions release which sofar only has artwork to spare in its wake. March 21, 2019
Gundala: Actor Abimana Arysatya stars in director Joko Anwar’s own adaptation of the beloved Indonesian superhero property about a scientist who finds himself gifted and set upon with a new calling in life. This one is still in production but the teaser itself bodes with promise.
Sangkar: Press first began rolling out over the summer with an intial look below at what’s to come for Malaysia’s premiere MMA drama. Zul Ariffin and Remy Ishak lead the cast for award-winning director Kabir Bhatia in a tale about two competitive fighters who hate each other until tragedy befalls one of them, drawing them closer. British MMA star James McSweeney will have a cameo, and with fight scene delivery in the hands of choreographer Saiful Reza (J Revolusi). May 2019
The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil: Actor and South Korean powerhouse Don Lee closed out 2018 in explosive fashion with Unstoppable and 2019 is all but indicative with this being one of several films coming down the pipeline. He plays a crime boss and the sole survivor of a spate of serial murders for whom he must pair with a reluctant detective to solve if they are to find his killer.
