Virtually anywhere you look online for film coverage, chances are you’ll stumble upon more than your share of positive coverage for Michael Matthew’s upcoming South African Western, Five Fingers For Marseilles.
Indeed, the festival scene has been a lively one amidst the film’s ceremony, and rightly so came its U.S. acquisition by Uncork’d Entertainment back in January. A September 7 release date is now on deck this week, along with a rousing, pulpy new red-band trailer that aims to please in gritty fashion courtesy of ScreenAnarchy.
From filmmaker Michael Matthews and screenwriter Sean Drummond comes a thrilling western set against the backdrop of post-Apartheid South Africa. Five Fingers for Marseilles takes place in a small town “governed” by dubious local officials, living in fear of a lawless mob; when an exiled outlaw returns home in search of solace and redemption, brotherhood and loyalty are fused with vengeance.
