FOXTROT SIX: The Rebellion Begins In The First Official Trailer For The Mario Kassar-Produced Sci-Fi Action Thriller

Of all the films out there that get announced and are often left by the wayside to be forgotten, you’ve got to give it to exec producer Mario Kassar this week. Close to two-and-a-half years since the news broke of dystopian sci-fi, Foxtrot Six, the feature film and franchise hopeful from debut director Randy Korompis is rolling out its first official trailer as of Tuesday after sparking months of growing interest in two teasers.

One of the first things you notice is the film’s English dialogue which tells you something about its international appeal. Next to this, the footage is packed to the brim with intensity, adjusting the tone promptly for a story set in a world where Indonesia, enveloped in violent political tumult, has become the last beacon for the mankind’s essential food and natural resources.

Oka Antara (The Raid 2) stars as Angga, the congressman of an usurped political party is taken captive by a band of underground rebels who then reveal the truth about the country’s corrupt government. On the run and with a greater threat on the horizon, Angga is compelled to regroup with few old friends from the Marine Corps to prevent further destruction.

Actress Julie Estelle, fresh from a riproaring performance as the Operator in Timo Tjahjanto’s The Night Comes For Us, joins in as Sari, Angga’s long-mistaken-for-dead fianceè and an award-winning journalist standing among the rebellion as it unfolds. Edward Akbar (Street Society) plays Angga’s former comrade-turned-rival and strike force leader, Wisnu.

Bookending the principal cast are actors Arifin Putra (The Raid 2) and Verdi Solaiman (Message Man) with Chicco Jerikho, Rio Dewanto, Willem Bevers and many more. Also featured is the essential screenfighting and choreography framework of action star Iko Uwais whose team designates the fisticuffs for this latest spectacle, and this trailer certainly doles out plenty of it.

Releasing in Indonesia on February 21, here’s to hoping Foxtrot Six gets the international audience it needs, and accordingly, the franchise moviegoers deserve!
