Filmmaker Hanung Bramantyo is finally out and making headway having moved up with his latest and ambitious endeavor, Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca. The new superhero action adventure now due out in June has been years in the making with a proof of concept shelled out in 2019, and principal photography then following suit with a changing of hands.

Billed to be the first in an eight-film line-up, Bramantyo directs the new action adventure from a script by Night Bus scribe Rahabi Mandra, based on a series of Indonesian comics from creator Rene Ishak, who also serves as exec producer with Celerina Judisari producing. Actor Rizky Nazar stars as our title hero for the inagural thriller which now has offered a first look teaser which you can view above, as well as a few posters at the bottom.

A young Indonesian man named Yuda learns the shocking truth that he is the heir apparant to extraordinary powers and part of a long line of warriors raged in a war between good and evil that could tear our world apart. Yuda must embrace his destiny and fight the forces of evil, lead by Aswatama, a Kurawa warrior with plans to destroy the world as we know it and plunge mankind into an eternity of darkness.

This one marks a new tipping point in the superhero film field for Indonesia following the efforts by those previously trying to get the Bumilangit Cinematic Universe off the ground with Gundala, and time will tell where things land on that end. For now, and given the standard bearers of today with similar films, it appears Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca is ready to take on the demand.

Nazar is joined by Yasmin Napper, Omar Daniel, Yatti Surachman, Zsazsa Utari, Edward Akbar, Louis Jocom, Max Metino and Ismi Melinda, and Indonesian action stalwarts Cecep Arif Rahman and Yayan Ruhiyan.
