It’s been a long time coming, but filmmaker Nik Shaw’s feature directing debut, Glass Dragon, is now closer to a release announcement after last week’s Global Stage Hollywood festival screening. A trailer is up and running as well per the festival’s YouTube channel with Dark Sky Films attached as likely distributor, so definitely keep an eye out on things from there end.
Shaw directs Glass Dragon from a script by Ryan Nichols. Actress Miki Mizuno of Bayside Shakedown and Hard Revenge Milly franchise fame stars as a single mother forced to accelerate her life plans when things go wrong for her and her daughter; Also starring are Maryjun Takahashi, Mark Dacascos, and Kiki Sukezane, with Shaw’s RE:Anime label producing alongside Eleven Arts, and pre-viz fight action by Malay Kim.
Glass Dragon was picked up by MPI Media in 2023 for international sales, and released on DVD in Japan back in March. A US release date remains pending.
