Filmmaker Ranjeet S. Marwa is turning his focus over to Traced, a new horror thriller which has already locked Sunny Pang to star. The film is aimed as “a crime thriller with elements of extreme violence” along with a tone and vision akin to the works of directors like Jeremy Saulnier (Blue Ruin), Takashi Miike (Ichi The Killer), Lynne Ramsay (You Were Never Really Here) and Park Chan-wook (Old Boy) to name a few.

Traced follows King (Pang), a troubled man with a violent past, hired by a multimillionaire to rescue his daughter, Hannah, from being exploited for her rare blood type, by a criminal gang known as Blood Thieves. As King battles his own inner-turmoil, his mission unravels an even larger conspiracy, and so King will do whatever it takes to find and save Hannah – no rules, no exceptions, no remorse.

Marwa is producing via his Rocket Sky High Pictures Ltd. banner, directing from his own script with Djonny Chen of Silent D Pictures also producing. Cameras are set to roll in Birmingham in the U.K. in September, in a major shift change thanks in large part to the Coronavirus pandemic seeing as Marwa’s earlier-announced action thriller, Blood Rush, was set to shoot in Jakarta by then.

I am told that at least one other factor has to do with scheduling for actor Zack Lee, who may have to depart the project due in part to other obligations. Talks with at least one other actor remains ongoing, and while nothing has been signed yet thusfar, it all depends on the outlook from hereon as Lee is still interested in the project.

Pang, whose credits also include Mo’ Brothers collab, Headshot, and Timo Tjahjanto’s The Night Comes For Us, remains on board for Blood Rush which is already setting up to be a promising action thriller given its heavy hitter cast that also lists Cecep Arif Rahman and Yayan Ruhian, as well as Nathan Jones, Hairul Azreen, Grace Teo, and Bad Boys For Life actor Massi Furlan.

Marwa hails from Birmingham, England, and has been directing shorts and narrative features for more than a decade, including The Last Goodbye (2014), Destiny (2015) and Remember Me: The Tale of an Old Ghost (2017), the critically-acclaimed Citizen Erased (2018), Bruce Payne-produced short doc, The Boy Who Never Came Home: A True Story (2019), Amazon-released black & white horror feature The Missing and upcoming limited series, Daughter Unknown.
