HUNT Gets First Look At Lee Jung-Jae’s Directorial Debut

We now have our latest first look this week at actor Lee Jung-jae’s feature directing debut, Hunt. Megabox Plus M is repping world sales on the pic while at Cannes this season as the film leads the Midnight Screenings section and readies for a possible Camera d’Or win.

Set in 1980’s, two special agents with the same deadly mission: Find a mole

Agents of the Korean National Intelligence Service (KNIS), Pyung-ho (LEE Jung-jae) at Int’l Dept. and Jung-do (JUNG Woo-sung) at Domestic Dept. are both independently hunting a North Korean mole within the agency. During this investigation, they come face to face with an unbearable truth and yet must complete their own missions at all costs.

The film comes in the wake Lee’s latest banner success with Netflix thriller series, Squid Game, earning the show itself numerous accolades along with awarding Lee the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series, and the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Performance in a Scripted Series.

Hunt marks the latest reunion for Lee and Jung since starring together in Kim Sung-su’s City Of The Rising Sun. Also starring are Jeon Hye-jin (Ashfall), Heo Sung-tae (Squid Game), Go Youn-jung (Sweet Home), Kim Jong-soo (The Spy Gone North) and Jung Man-sik (Escape From Mogadishu).

Eugene Kim, formerly of Showbox, is co-executive producer on the film and handling its marketing, sales and distribution, according to Screendaily.

Lee is repped by Korea-based Artist Company, and as of late by CAA (Creative Artists Agency) in the United States.
