Back in the fray is celebrated Deliver Us From Evil and Typhoon star, actor Lee Jung-jae, freshly on the prowl with representation both at home in Korea and in the states following the successful run of hit Netflix series, Squid Game, and only growing his career having also directed his first feature film with political thriller, Hunt.
And, in no better time than now does he find himself reuniting with longtime friend and colleague, actor Jung Woo-sung since their heyday together on 1998 drama, City Of The Rising Sun. So where does that leave us on a film like Hunt? Well, judging by the new trailer and clip below courtesy of The Upcoming, I’ll tell you: Explosive action and intrigue with Lee and Jung in the drivers’ seat and leading a cat-and-mouse chase riddled with bullets, wit and danger at every turn. It’s all kinetic, fast moving and the energy is unrelenting.
After a high-ranking North Korean official requests asylum,
KCIA Foreign Unit chief Park Pyong-ho and Domestic Unit chief Kim Jung-do are tasked with uncovering a North Korean spy, known as Donglim, who is deeply embedded within their agency.
When the spy begins leaking top secret intel that could jeopardize national security, the two units are each assigned to investigate each other.
In this tense situation where if they cannot find the mole, they may be accused themselves, Pyong-ho and Jung-do slowly start to uncover the truth.In the end, they must deal with an unthinkable plot to assassinate the South Korean president…

Hunt will perform Out Of Competition for the Midnight Screenings section of the Cannes Film Festival which launches on May 17. Megabox Plus M is representing the film for international sales at the upcoming market.
The film is directed by Lee from a script he wrote with Jo Seung-hee, and also stars Jeon Hye-jin (Ashfall), Heo Sung-tae (Malmoe: The Secret Mission), Go Youn-jung (Netflix series “Sweet Home”), Kim Jong-soo (Samjin Compamy English Class) and Jeong Man-sik (Escape From Mogadishu, The Swordsman).
