The 20th Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival is weeks away from launch. For those attending and for director Sidharta Tata, that means another lucky audience after bowing at Fantastic Fest a few months ago will get to snag a look at his latest actioner, Ikatan Darah, hailing from Iko Uwais’s Uwais Pictures as one of two prospective titles headlining the label into the new year.

Mega (25), a former Pencak Silat athlete whose career ended due to a permanent injury, now works as a waitress to support herself and her ailing mother. Her world unravels further when thugs arrive, demanding payment for a massive debt secretly incurred by her brother, Bilal (30), through illegal gambling.

As Mega seeks help from her old friend Dini, now an enforcer for an online loan syndicate, Bilal panics and murders the loan shark, Henri, unknowingly stealing marked money. Henri’s death sparks a violent hunt led by his older brother, Primbon, a feared underworld figure, his deadly enforcer, Macan, and the whole gang.

With Bilal in hiding and danger closing in, Mega risks everything to save him.

Bonnie breakout Livi Ciananta stars alongside Derby Romero, and a whole row of stylized action that fans following all things out of Indonesia in the last fifteen years can want. The film’s first official teaser is online as well courtesy of the festival.
