Word may have gotten around earlier on but the trades are now officially reporting the cancellation of AMC’s hit series, Into The Bandlands.
The show launched on the network in 2015, created by Al Gough and Miles Millar set 500 years after a war that left civilization in ruins. Sunny, the best of the best among “clippers” who kill in service of their barron, aspires for a life away from the badlands all while keeping watch of a young boy with a mysterious gift, and amidst the deadly political upheaval among barrons warring for power and fortune.
Daniel Wu and Aramis Knight led the cast along with Emily Beecham, Madeline Mantock, Ally Ioannides, Marin Csokas, Nick Frost, Sherman Agustus, Stephen Lang and Lewis Tan between its three seasons. The final eight episodes will bow on Sunday, March 24, 2019, as confirmed by THR via the Television Critics Association on Saturday, along with the end of AMC drama, The Son, which premiered its first season in 2017.
Other shows incoming for the network by way of BBC America and Sundance are Killing Eve and A Discovery of Witches, respectively, joining the current line-up that lists The Walking Dead and spinoff Fear the Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, Lodge 49, McMafia, NOS4A2, The Terror, Human, Preacher, Little Drummer Girl and Dispatches From Elsewhere.
The cancellation of Into The Badlands, a show whose major center piece was its high-end fight choreography and action set pieces, comes on the eve of Cinemax’s own martial arts series debut, Warrior, starring Andrew Koji which premieres in April, followed by the premiere of Wu Assassins later this year starring Iko Uwais.
