Five years in the making and having endured its own pandemic-related and scheduling setbacks, director Siva is back with another in his current streak of Tamil-language thrillers, this time with fantasy actioner, Kanguva. The first official teaser is here signaling a big scale action epic full of explosive visuals and spectacle, and featuring actor Suriya in his latest and long-awaited starring role.
Details on the film further suggest Suriya will be playing more than one role, as will co-star Bobby Deol, linking to a story that crosses past and present day arcs. The film’s IMDb notes a brief logline that reads, “A warrior in the 1678 dies due to a disease, in the present a girl does research on the disease which killed the warrior in 1678,” which suggests that the events in the teaser now online is definitely a setup for an even bigger story to come.
Kanguva hails an ensemble cast as well with Deol and actress Disha Patani making their Tamil debuts, and with Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, K. S. Ravikumar and B. S. Avinash also starring.
