Currently revving up an in-competition premiere at this year’s virtual IFFR in Rotterdam, JCVD helmer Mabrouk El Mechri’s latest spin on female empowerment, Kung Fu Zohra. The first official trailer is now up and running featuring actress Sabrina Ouazani in the title role, along with Ramzy Bédia, Eye Haidara, Tien Shu and Lina Hachani for the film’s forthcoming Spring release in Belgium and France, from sales agent Gaumont and from Athena Films.
Convinced that a divorce would separate her from her little girl, Zohra cannot bring herself to leave her husband Omar despite his violent behavior. She suffers his blows in silence, even though it is becoming harder to hide the truth from her entourage. But all that changes when she meets Chang Sue, a security guard at the gym where she works to make ends meet. Zohra does not know it yet, but Chang Sue is a Master of Kung-Fu… and ready to teach her the basics…
