The first official trailer footage is now online for Legend Of Deification, the new CG-animated epic from directors Chen Teng and Li Wei. The film opens on January 25 in the mainland in time for the Chinese New Year, building on the success of director Jiao Zi’s stunning animated feature, Ne Zha.
Both films share the same universe mapped out in the folkloric Chinese epic, Fengshen Bang (or, “Investiture Of The Gods”) which itself has its own adaptation coming in the new year. With Legend Of Deification, Teng and Wei place their protagonist, Jiang Zi Ya, front and center in his own journey of self-rediscovery since the overthrow of the Shang Kingdom.
We’ll know more once we inch closer to its release, and hopefully perhaps a U.S. acquisition by our friends at Well Go USA as they did for Ne Zha. For now, peep the trailer above and new key art below.
