Industry stunt stalwart Olivier Schneider just broke out with his debut motocross crime thriller, GTMax on Netflix. Prior to that, Schneider was announced to direct action thriller, Les Orphelins (or The Orphans) which I first thought was going to be his breakout at the time. Either way at that, Schneider now has two in the can with his latest hitting press junkets with the cast in toe, and a trailer and poster which you can view below.
Gab and Driss, childhood friends on bad terms since they left the orphanage, now have opposite lives – one is a cop with the IGPN, the other a fixer for thugs. When their first love dies in a suspicious accident, her 17-year-old daughter, Leïla, takes Gab’s gun and sets off on the trail of a powerful organization willing to do anything to cover the case up. Forced to team up, the orphans must stop her before she crosses a line she can’t return from…
Schneider directs a cast led by Alban Lenoir and Dali Benssalah, along with Sonia Faidi, Anouk Grinberg, Romain Levi, and Suzanne Clément. The film also teams Schneider with the fine producers over at Inoxy Films, the good folks behind Guillaume Pierret’s crowd-winning Balle trilogy, with TF1 Films and distro label Gaumont also producing.
Les Orphelins opens in France on August 20.
