Gerardo Naranjo’s 2011 crime drama, Miss Bala, was a ripped-from-the-headlines sensation that traversed with decor after its Cannes premiere that year. Whatever the appeal then was remake it was since left at the controls of Twilight helmer Catherine Hardwicke with TV star Gina Rodriguez front and center for the new incarnation now slated for February.
Gloria (Gina Rodriguez) finds a power she never knew she had when she is drawn into a dangerous world of cross-border crime. Surviving will require all of her cunning, inventiveness, and strength.
Hardwicke directs from a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, and with Ismael Cruz Córdova and Anthony Mackie starring.
