MOSUL: Catch The Harrowing First Trailer For Matthew Michael Carnahan’s Feature Directing Debut

Noted screenwriter Matthew Michael Carnahan (21 Bridges, Deepwater Horizon, The Kingdom) is ready to make your Thanksgiving Day weekend with his feature directorial debut, Mosul. Carnahan partnered with celebrated Marvel Cinematic Universe shepherds Anthony and Joe Russo who previously scored with Sam Hargrave’s Extraction, and are also on the way with Tom Holland drama, Cherry.

Carnahan wrote the pic based off news coverage by The New Yorker’s Luke Mogelson, covering the fight against ISIS extremists by local civilians, including in one piece in 2017 titled “The Desperate Battle To Destroy ISIS”. On Monday, Collider brings the exclusive trailer ahead of its forthcoming Netflix release November 26, and following plot details and poster:

Written and directed by Matthew Michael Carnahan, Mosul is an extraordinary true story of heroism in the face of overwhelming odds, as it follows a group of brave men who fight to take back control of their homes, families and city from ISIS. After inexperienced Iraqi cop Kawa (Adam Bessa) is rescued from a harrowing firefight by the elite Nineveh SWAT team, he’s quickly inducted into the rogue squadron, a band of ten brothers-in-arms led by the wise Major Jasem (Suhail Dabbach). Under constant threat of attack, the unit embarks on a dangerous guerrilla operation, determined to wipe out an enemy base and restore order to the lawless territory.
