When it comes to the posterity of real world legends and icons in film, I suppose the possibilities are near endless. Such may be the case for the titular legendary samurai iterated in director Mikami Yasuo’s new chanbara drama, Musashi.
Actor Hosoda Yoshihiko now carries the torch for Mikami’s treatment as it centers on the 21-year old swordsman’s challenge to the renowned sword master of the Yoshioka family – a duel that ensues a series of epic battles that eventually pit him against Lord Hosokawa’s newly appointed Kenjutsu master Kojiro Sasaki, played by Matsudaira Ken.
May 25 is the date, on top of whatever comes of its cycle in the festivals for which we’re bound to find out, if anything. Stay tuned for an official trailer and poster gems!
