MY HERO ACADEMIA: TWO HEROES Smashes Onto Screens This Fall From Funimation Films

With the series concurrently already underway, as of a week ago during SDCC 2018, Funimation Films is proudly carrying over the U.S. animated feature film release of My Hero Academia: Two Heroes. Voice actors Justin Briner and Christopher R. Sabat will tackle the respective performances of young aspiring superhero, Deku, and his mentor, All Might, on up to 400 screens in the U.S. and Canada with English dub screenings on September 25, 27 and 29, and in the original Japanese (w/ English subs) on September 26 and October 2.

Our favorite young hero-in training is in for a wild ride when villains threaten the artificial moving city, I-Island. Deku and All Might receive an invitation to I-Expo, the world’s leading exhibition of Quirk abilities and hero item innovations! Amid the excitement, sponsors, and pros from all over, Deku meets Melissa, a girl who is Quirkless just like he once was. Suddenly, I-Expo’s top-of-the-line security system gets hacked by villains, and a sinister plan is set in motion. It’s a serious threat to hero society, and one man holds the key to it all—the symbol of peace, All Might.

My Hero Academia has accrued a raft of awards and accolades including IGN’s “Best of 2017 – Anime of the Year” and “2017 People’s Choice – Anime of the Year” awards, as well ad seven top honors at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, ComicBook.com’s “2017 Golden Issue Award for Best Shonen Series” and the #1 spot on both Anime News Network’s “Best of 2017 Mega Poll” and GameSpot’s “Top Ten Anime of 2017.” And not for nothing either!

The film marks the first feature movie in the franchise since the animated hit show took off in 2016 from Toho Co. Ltd., created by Nagasaki Kenji from the work of manga author Horikoshi Kohei. Following the animated series itself proves especially to be an experience of emotional magnitude as we follow the story of a “Quirkless” young boy who is then gifted in secret by the world’s most legendary hero with “One For All”, ensuing an education that journeys viewers on Izuku’s perilous adventure of self-discovery, sacrifice, heart and the meaning of true heroism all while battling looming forces of evil eager to challenge societal morale on heroes and the ideals of being one.

“Based on the incredible response from the three thousand fans at our sold-out world premiere during Anime Expo, I have no doubt that audiences everywhere will enjoy ‘My Hero Academia: Two Heroes’ as well,” said Gen Fukunaga, CEO and President of Funimation. “The stories and characters of ‘My Hero Academia’ have connected in such an incredible way with its viewers that it now has created a fan base that normally would take a decade to establish. This first feature film for the franchise does not disappoint.”
