Netflix managed to strike some curious minds back in May upon ponying up $30 million dollars for the rights to Chinese animated sci-fi, Next Gen. Going forward though, it may very well prove to be a lucrative move as far as family action adventure titles go and this one definitely struck me by surprise with its latest official trailer, going from cute robo sci-fi with a talking dog to robots shooting missles and things going explody!…And yes, a talking dog.
NEXT GEN is an animated action-adventure film about the bittersweet power of memories. It tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a rebellious girl and a runaway combat robot, as they unite to stop a madman’s plan for technological world domination.
Releasing exclusively on Netflix on September 7, Next Gen is directed by Kevin Adams and Joe Ksander with a V.O. cast featuring John Krasinski, David Cross, Michael Peña, Charlyne Yi, Jason Sudeikis and Constance Wu.
