Nick Cassavetes Will Direct MGM’s ROAD HOUSE Remake
Originally published October 12, 2015: Today’s a pretty terrible day for anyone just now learning that UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has a boyfriend; if you’re just now learning of this as you’ve read it, no worries…I feel your pain. Rough day, I know. *pats you on the back*
At any rate, the rest of us can enjoy her feats inside as well as outside the ring with her movie career in full bloom, and especially with her forthcoming gender-swapped role in MGM’s brewing remake of the 1989 cult action hit, Road House. The original starred actor Patrick Swayze whose widow, Lisa Niemi, gave the Entourage and The Expendables 3 co-star her blessing, which no less adds to the celebration surrounding this project.
So who’s directing? Well, the project was in search of a director as of last month with a draft by Michael Stokes. This week however, Variety reports that Nick Cassavetes, writer and director of titles like John Q, Alpha Dog and The Other Woman, will be at the helm with a script of his own.
Rousey inherits Swayze’s iconic role as bouncer hired to reinforce the security in Missouri’s most eruptive bar, The Double Deuce, only to come to blows with the town’s most notorious businessman. The film is one in several projects currently in development for Rousey, including Peter Berg’s Mile 22 with STX Entertainment, Warner Bros.’s The Athena Project and a forthcoming adaptation of her autobiography, My Fight/Your Fight.
Stay tuned for more info, and congrats to the happy couple! Now to check what’s up on Tinder…

I just love her performance both inside stage and in movies. She’s good at what she does especially those fighting scenes, she really has a boyfriend?
