PEEN KLEAW: Check Out The Trailer For The New Thai Action Thriller Coming In August

Thai action is set to make its return to the big screen later next month with Peen Kleaw, directed by Arthur Boon. The film’s earlier iterations hint at a concept once stirred by the late Panna Rittikrai with the working title “Slum Dragons”, and now with a script adapted by Boon for a cast that lists Thititham Saengmanee, Kritpas Chanthanapothi, and Naruphan Chimpolinphanon.

The film follows a young man named Ake (Saengmanee), who moves to the city for a job as a modem installer for a telecommunications company, having left his father behind in an effort to break the cycle of poverty. When a call from his father gets cut off, Ake sets out to investigate only to discover that the signal towers around his village were sabotaged by ruthless thugs working for a predatory land developer. Forced to employ his learned fighting skills, it’s up to Ake to save his village or watch as they sign their land away and get silenced in the process.

Also starring are Ploypapat Khunphrom, Sarawut Siriphet, and Chakrakrit Kanokpochananon. Peen Kleaw opens in Thailand on August 21, while dates outside the region remain pending.

I kinda like “Slum Dragons” as a title though. What better way to sell a Thai actioner to Western audiences?
