PRISONERS OF THE GHOSTLAND Brandishes A Shotgun-Wielding Nicolas Cage In New Stills For The Sion Sono Thriller

I’m sorry… was that a Nicolas Cage film you wanted?

Invariably folks got plenty of Cage this season in sci-fi thriller, Jiu Jitsu, and lo and behold, that won’t be all going forward as the 2021 festival circuit revs up a potential premiere with one other Cage spectacle: Sion Sono’s new film, Prisoners Of The Ghostland.

Fandango put out some new stills of the movie on Twitter on freakin’ Sunday of all days, and you’re welcome to check them out for yourselves in the gallery above. I’d provide a plot/synopsis for this thing but Cage, being the awesome man he is, provided an even better take on the project back during a masterclass he hosted at the third IFFAM in Macau in 2018 (via Screen Anarchy):

“I’m thrilled about it! It’s unlike anything I’ve ever read before. It might be the wildest movie I’ve ever made, and that’s saying something. It’s out there. I wear a skintight black leather jumpsuit with grenades attached to different body parts, and if I don’t rescue the governor’s daughter from this state line where they’re all ghosts and bring her back they’re gonna blow me up. It’s just crazy. It’s way out there.”

So there.

Also, the film stars Sofia Boutella, Nick Cassavetes, Ed Skrein and Imogen Poots, Tak Sakaguchi and Bill Moseley.
