REDEMPTION: New Malaysian Action Thriller From Michael Chuah, Filming Now Underway [EXCLUSIVE]

Actor and filmmaker Michael Chuah has been around since 2006. He firstly horror drama, Dark Seed, and has been following up with several actioners along the way debuting, initally appearing in Fist Of Dragon (2011), action comedies Firefly (2013) and Special Forces (2016) and Red Storm (2019).

If you’re curious and live in the states at least, you can find most of Chuah’s films on Amazon Prime to rent or buy. In the meantime, I can report more on Chuah as he’s already shooting his newest film, Redemption. The film reunites Chuah with actor Henry Thia (Special Forces, Red Storm) and Monday Kang (Fist Of Dragon), with local actor/singer Tian Long also starring.

As for the story, this is what Chuah has exclusively sent us along with the still just above: “Jie, one of the top bodyguards in Asia, has decided to retire, and to undergo a more peaceful life after years of working in his industry.

“Jie is now living with his uncle in a small town, and is now working in a resort. He soon forms a friendship with his newly moved neighbours, Zen and Lyn. As life is getting smooth for Jie, Zen and Lyn were soon targeted by the local crime syndicate in KL city for their failures in repaying their debt. Jie, who sympathized with the sisters, tries to step in to help the sisters, and starts a confrontation between him and the crime syndicate.

“Jie has to locate the sisters and fight against time, before it’s too late to save them, and he once again has to reconnect with his life in the past in order to save the sisters. Promising himself not to let history repeat itself, Jie goes all out to help the sisters, temporarily leaving his peaceful life behind and gets back into what he is good at.”

Redemption hails from Evo Pictures and Fusion Media, and is also produced by Chuah along with fellow film cohort Peter Wong.

It’s worth noting that Chuah has also been circling some projects in the U.S. for a while. It could still happen, and deservedly so, as good as Chuah looks on film. Got Prime? Check him out!
