RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER Adds South Korean Actor Lee Joon-Gi | Film Combat Syndicate
I haven’t much kept up with the Resident Evil movies apart from having seen four of them so far. The sixth, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, is underway, at least with production currently filming in Cape Town, South Africa with actress Milla Jovovich back with an ensemble cast of familiar faces based on characters from the hit Capcom gaming series. One such character is now being added by way of South Korean actor and singer Lee Joon-Gi, according to Variety. Confirmed by Jovovich‘s latest Instagram post and Sony’s most recent announcement, Lee will reportedly play the role Umbrella Corporation’s Commander Lee, as per the film’s plot that sees our heroine in a last stand against zombies and monsters alike, and the corporation that created them. Working for the last few nights with the incredible 3rd Dan Tae Kwon Do master and actor Joon Gi @actor_jg has been insanely fun and so inspiring. Makes me want to go back to class and brush up on my martial arts skills!?? #nightshoots #residentevilthefinalchapter #capetowndiaryA photo posted by Milla Jovovich (@millajovovich) on Oct 16, 2015 at 5:02pm PDT Lee‘s been at it since his heyday as a model in the early 2000s before making his way to television dramas. While having kept his place on the small screen, his theatrical prospects began in 2004 with his last big screen bid in the 2007 period war drama, May 18. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter marks Lee’s Hollywood debut which, joining a number of South Korean faces emerging beyond borders in the last several years, including Rain (Ninja Assassin, The Prince) and Lee Byung-Hun (G.I. Joe, Red 2) to name a few. Paul W.S. Anderson directs with a release tentative for January in 2017 apart from Marza Animation Planet’s own CG movie reboot.
