RISE OF THE MACHINE GIRLS: Girls, Girl Fights, Gun Fights AND Tak Sakaguchi? Yes, Please!

If at one point you thought you’d never hear from the infamous Japanese machine girls of yesteryear, Death Row Family helmer Yuki Kobayashi is here to steal your gaze once more for the next chapter in reboot form, Rise Of The Machine Girls.

Actresses Himena Tsukimiya leads the way as Ami, the latest victim to lose an arm during a surprise attack on a black market organ-trafficking ring. When she eventually gets her arm fitted with some heavy artillery, she infiltrates the organization only to be forced to battle the newly-transformed killer cyborg that used to be her sister, Yoshie, played by Kanon Hanakage.

Both actress are joined in reunion with Red Blade co-star and martial arts movie man-on-a-mission, actor Tak Sakaguchi, and if you’ve been a fan of Machine Girls or have been a DVD collector back in the heydays of Media Blasters (home to Noboru Iguchi’s 2008 original), you can imagine the level of nostalgia and fondness here some.

Yoshinori Chiba returned and produced this latest endeavor next to cult favorite, Yoshihiro Nishimura (Tokyo Gore Police), which will soon have its day for a Swiss premiere at Neuchatel next month. Check out the English-subbed trailer above and let’s hope some badass poster artwork comes out before long.
