SCREAM 7: Neve Campbell And Ghostface Square Off In The New Trailer

Neve Campbell stars in Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group's "Scream 7."

I’m not at all kept up with the Scream franchise after the first and second films. Slashers were never my thing at the time – and they still aren’t really, and I say this as someone whose tastes have evolved enough to like when the usual horror movie tropes take a gradual backseat with protagonists fighting back against sadistic masked killers and such.

That’s what I love now about the trailer for Scream 7, which opens in February, and compels me a little more now to watch the sixth film soon as I can. Kevin Williamson directs a cast of new and returning actors that list Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Isabel May, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Mckenna Grace, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Ethan Embry, Tim Simons and Mark Consuelos.

When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.

I’m really digging a few of the sequences here too. There’s a shot here that takes a page right from The Raid which sort of plays to my sensibilities, and with a plot that effectively turns the film into a home invasion actioner at that.

Do I like scary movies? No. Do I like scintillating thrillers punctuated with action and violence with nuances of survival? Why, yes I do.

You have my attention, Kev!
