SHRAPNEL Casts Jason Patric And Cam Gigandet, William Kaufman Directing

Jason Patric (Sleepers, Narc) will lead action thriller Shrapnel, as announced by L.A.-based sales, production and financing firm, Premiere Entertainment Group (PEG) on Friday. The actor will star alongside Cam Gigandet (Twilight, The Magnificent Seven) with William Kaufman directing from a script by Chad Law and Johnny Walters.

Patric will play a rancher who crosses the border in search of his missing daughter who mysteriously vanishes during a trip to Mexico with her best friend. He decides to take matters into his own hands, with the help of a former Marine buddy (Gigandet), after the local authorities provide little help and he discovers that they are in cahoots with the dangerous cartel behind his daughter’s disappearance.

The film further reunites Kaufman with Law, with the latter having co-penned three of Kaufman’s films in the past: Cuba Gooding Jr. actioners The Hit List (2011) and One In The Chamber (2012), and the Johnny Strong-led action horror, Daylight’s End (2016). Kaufman’s credits also include The Prodigy (2005), Sinners and Saints (2010), Jarhead 3: The Siege (2016), and The Brave (2019); two other films also in the pipeline are The Channel starring Clayne Crawford and Max Martini, and Warhorse One featuring Strong.

Shrapnel is currently repped for worldwide sales by Premiere Entertainment, whose CEO Elias Axume is producing. Al Bravo is also producing for Al Bravo Films.

Carlos Rincon is serving as exec producer for Premiere Entertainment group as is ITN Films’s Stuart Alson, along with Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor for BondIt Media Capital, who provided financing.

“We are thrilled to have Jason join the project,” said Axume. “He’s a terrific actor with wide range who will elevate the film, which we hope will become a breakout hit.”

Recent Premiere original productions include Tom Berenger film, Black Warrant, crime thriller Blowback starring Randy Couture and Gigandet, and Saban’s recently-released The Commando with Mickey Rourke and Michael Jai White.

Patric is repped by The Kohner Agency, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher, LLP. Gigandet is repped by Agency for the Performing Arts (APA), Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Joey Stanton at Vybe Trybe.
