It would be really unfair to only remember George Foreman for his defeat against Muhammad Ali in the Rumble in the Jungle. His legacy in boxing history goes beyond that historical date, since the man, not only learned from that defeat how to return stronger, but he defied the laws of logic, returning to the ring at an age that would be unthinkable for most human beings to step into an elite boxing ring, but also, he became the oldest boxer in winning the HW title at the age of 45 defeating 26-year -old Michael Moorer on the 10th round of their title match that took place in Las Vegas, on November 5, 1994. A glorious deed that went right into boxing history books.
In recent years, Hollywood has been massively producing biopics of all kinds of historical figures, it was just a matter of time that someone with a a gigantic legacy over his shoulders as George Foreman, could have his chance of shine in the silver screen.
It was this past February when Sony Pictures launched the trailer of “BIG GEORGE FOREMAN,” an upcoming American biographical sports drama film directed by George Tillman Jr., focus on the life and career of the former HW boxer, in a moving trailer that suggests that the film will explore his ups and downs inside and outside the Ring and how embracing a new fate, he learned to rise from the dark pit of defeat.
American film, stage and television actor, Khris David, best known for his roles as” Steel” in the drama film “Judas and the Black Messiah” and Malik in “Space Jam: A New Legacy”, was the choosen one for the difficult task of filling the shoes of the legendary boxer, in a cast that includes Academy award winner, Forest Whitaker, Jasmine Mathews, John Magaro, Sullivan Jones ,Lawrence Gilliard Jr. and
Sonja Sohn.
After several delays, the film will finally hit theatres April 28, 2023, by Sony Pictures.
