Sony’s HARBINGER Circles Dylan O’Brien To Star

It’s always best to take comic book movie updates with a grain of salt unless the news is official or if it comes from the usual trade sources. The same goes for Valiant Comics IP, Harbinger, which is at the center of its own brewing cinematic universe at Sony Pictures, and though nothing has reportedly been officiated, the word is that American Assassin and Maze Runner trilogy star Dylan O’Brien is being tapped for the lead.

Ex-Marvel Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter and artist David Lapham created Harbinger in 1992, telling of Peter Stanchek, a young telekinetic who, after running away from home, eventually finds himself recruited into the secretive Harbinger Foundation. Arrival and upcoming Bird Box scribe Eric Heisserer is providing the script with Neal Moritz of Original Film producing next to Valiant’s Dinesh Shamdasani. Justin Tipping (The Chi, Kicks) is reportedly circling the director’s chair.

The Valiant Universe is slated to launch on the big screen on February 21, 2020 with the release of Dave Wilson’s adaptation, Bloodshot, starring Vin Diesel, Guy Pearce, Eiza Gonzalez and Toby Kebbell, and also written by Heisserer and co-scribe Jeff Wadlow.

Charles Murphy also notes that actor Noah Centino (The Fosters) is being groomed for the role of Pete’s best friend, Joe Irons, along with actress Beanie Feldstein (Lady Bird) for the role of Faith, another powerful hero to whom our protag, Pete is drawn. (That Hashtag Show)
