Spike Lee’e DA 5 BLOODS: ‘Time Has Come Today’ For The Official Trailer

One of four current ventures with Netflix, Spike Lee is back after earning scores of praise and accolades for the highly-acclaimed Blackkklansman, now on deck for Vietnam war drama, Da 5 Bloods, streaming on June 12 at 3am Eastern Time. The official trailer is finally online and host to a grand treatment by way of psychedelic music, wartime-era nostalgia and grit, specifically served in part with certain grainy production values to give it a certified flair.

From Academy Award® Winner Spike Lee comes a New Joint: the story of four African-American Vets — Paul (Delroy Lindo), Otis (Clarke Peters), Eddie (Norm Lewis), and Melvin (Isiah Whitlock, Jr.) — who return to Vietnam. Searching for the remains of their fallen Squad Leader (Chadwick Boseman) and the promise of buried treasure, our heroes, joined by Paul’s concerned son (Jonathan Majors), battle forces of Man and Nature — while confronted by the lasting ravages of The Immorality of The Vietnam War.

Acclaimed actress Veronica Ngo makes an appearance here which is pretty rewarding for Asian cinema fans who follow Spike Lee. And, look carefully and you’ll also spot actor Johnny Tri Nguyen, now in a more dramatic mode years since blowing the niche away with the aforementioned Ngo in The Rebel and Clash before the domestic censorship fallout over Charlie Nguyen’s Bui Doi Cho Lon.

We’ll see how things add up when this flick releases June 12, but I love how this trailer was put together.
