Those of you following The Hit List have likely enjoyed a great deal of DC fandom from filmmaker Christopher Sheffield. His Gotham Nights webseries recently premiered a new episode continuing a fruitful collaboration with actress Heather Wake, while in addition, he’s also had his hands full for a much longer period with upcoming action thriller, Split Lip.
In the underground world of contract killers, mistakes cannot be tolerated. Set, a young brutal fighter with an icy exterior, (played by Dorée Seay) finds out the hard way when one mistake sends her on a treacherous journey to clear her name. Hunted by her mentor Karlton (DeJean Brown) and a whole roster of psychopaths, including Drue Schaefer Crookston, Jax Menez Atwell, Eli Godfrey and more! She stumbles into the friendship of a curious stranger (Christopher Labadie) and his over-protective sister (Maryam Fiona). With a world of violence at her heels, and a ticking clock on her life, Set fights with everything she has to see her journey’s end.
Inspired with an artist’s tenacity and the goal of proving that budgets aren’t everything when it comes to films, Sheffield’s brainchild initally took off as a webseries in 2011. Amidst a string of television and shortfilm credits thereafter, his 2015 feature debut, Run For Your Life, set a good precedent that would ultimately get the ball rolling for a feature film advancement of Split Lip with actress Dorée Seay (The View From Here) front and center.
Crowdfunding on Indiegogo to help cover certain costs for essentials fell short of its goals that year, and despite this, Sheffield stayed the course. The official trailer above arrived last month which you can view below along with a small playlist of individual cast interviews featuring Seay, actress Maryam Cnè and actor Chris Labadie.
