Three years after the sucessful rollout of Gundala, Joko Anwar’s inaugural superhero entry of the Bumilangit Cinematic Universe now has a follow-up in Upi Avianto’s own incarnation of superheroine staple, Sri Asih, which now delivers us a spectacular first teaser featuring actress Pevita Pearce in the title role.
Hailing from Screenplay Films and Bumilangit Studios for its big screen release, the trailblazing superhero property was first birthed in 1954 from creator R.A. Kosasih for Melodie Publishers, Bandung. The superheroine now makes her transition to feature film territory following the events of Gundala in which Pearce makes a brief cameo in the role.
Penned by Avianto and Anwar, Sri Asih also stars Jefri Nichols and Christine Hakim, and while we don’t have an official synopsis, the teaser in the player above does come with English subs to help gain more of an understanding of the context and setting.
An official date in Indonesia remains pending as well, so keep an eye out for more acquisition news as it comes.
