SURVIVORS: Ride Or Die With A First Look At K&K Productions’ Martial Arts Vs. Zombies Proof-Of-Concept [EXCLUSIVE]

Filmmaking duo George and Harry Kirby have spent more than a decade building their brand as filmmakers and worthwhile content creators through their K&K Productions label.

Since then, they’ve garnered a sizeable audience with their projects over the years, many of which are catered to fan favorite IPs such as Dragon Ball Z, League Of Legends, DC Comics, Marvel and more. It was earlier on back in 2013, however, their shortfilm output progressed a little further, making their bid in the horror arena with talented martial arts and stunt stylings of David Cheung (Green Street 3, Black Widow) and Isky Fay (Snatch, Pennyworth) as heroes battling it out in the cold against a swarm of the undead.

“At the time, we became very much into the zombie genre and we wanted to bring our love for action to that genre,” says Harry Kirby, who tells us that he and George began developing an original feature-length screeplay about a year later after their short, Martial Arts Vs Zombies.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, though the latest incarnation, Survivors, is currently finished, with Kirby billing the project solidly as “martial arts-versus-zombies” just as intended.

“No guns, just a skilled group of martial artists, trickers and parkour experts trapped in a building with a ton of zombies and they can only escape using their specific skill set.” says Kirby.

Plans then followed for the two sibling creatives to introduce the project to attendees at the American Film Market in Los Angeles back in 2018, then managing to appeal to representatives for Bulgaria’s Nu Boyana Film Studios (The Expendables 2 & 3, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, the Has Fallen series).

“We were then working alongside Nu Boyana, who have shot tons of action films and worked with some of our favourite action stars,” says Kirby. “Unfortunately though, the budget to shoot at the studio got a bit too big, and so we have now shot this proof of concept which will serve as the opening scene of the film to send to our potential investors.”

I’m told that Survivors is slowly gaining traction this year as K&K Productions continues onward with hopes of bringing its newest, ambitious feat to its intended fruition.

For now though, Film Combat Syndicate is proudly taking the reigns and sharing a raft of stills from the project’s social media page, including several more exclusive stills and BTS shots of the project in the gallery below. Featured are the aforementioned Isky Fay in costume and helmet, doubling with Professional BMX bike rider Matt Harris.
